It's bothering me having this on my front page with seemingly no response, so I'll just quote what I noted.
I respect your opinion that you may not like what I'm doing to them, because I'm well aware that gore mods aren't to everyone's taste, but I'm quite hurt by your implication that I don't love these dolls. I also don’t consider my buying these girls and repainting them a waste of money; buying them to then lose interest and kick them under the bed forgotten would be a waste, but I’m lavishing time and attention on them.
While what I've done to them may seem cruel, I don't consider it to be ruining or destroying them. I'm not saying they're up to professional standards or anything, but I think if the result looks good for what it is, it's not a waste. These girls are vampires, monsters and ghosts, so it’s not as though they aren’t apt to horror and gore mods - I'm just making them less cutesy versions of their original forms. And while to you it may seem a waste of money or that I'm taking them from people that would love them more, a lot of people like them. All of my girls are getting views, positive comments, and I've had a lot of offers for one, and that's mainly from other collectors. All the while there are people that appreciate my art, I'll continue showing it.
To imply I don’t love them upsets me. I love them all the more for what I make them. This takes a lot of time and care, which I wouldn't give them if they weren't something I was very interested in. I’ve collected BJD for seven years and treasure them all, and yes I feel differently towards MH dolls, because their value and presence is very different, but my BJD are a part of my family. I would never ‘ruin’ a doll, because I feel a strong attachment to them.
I have more projects planned and have no intention to stop working on MH dolls anytime soon, so I'm sorry that you dislike what I'm doing with them, but I'd ask you to please just not look if it bothers you.
